Chronic Fatigue

Chronic Fatigue is a mysterious disorder that afflicts more people today than it ever has. The main treatment for daily fatigue is Adderol, a controlled substance that was approved for Attention Deficit Disorder.
Patients are screened for hypothyroidism, but if the blood test is normal, the patient is sent home without answers.
Chronic fatigue can be caused by many things and it takes more time with the patient and additional testing to uncover the cause(s). First the lifestyle habits such as bedtime behavior, stimulants, and diet must be considered. When these are dealt with, most likely additional testing is needed. Culprits behind chronic fatigue include microbial, brain damage due to a history of head trauma, chemical exposure, mold exposure, and hormones. If the cause is microbial, mold, or brain damage, these will all affect hormones, which in turn affects the patient’s energy, libido, etc.
Dr. Jane Hendricks spends 75 minutes with the patient gathering a thorough medical history for the first visit. If necessary, she will use organic acid testing to look for mold, chemicals, and microbes in the body such as fungus. In addition, a 24 hour urine test may be used to check into cortisol, testosterone, progesterone and estrogen metabolites.
Once the cause is found, the patient feels a big relief in knowing why she is fatigued and now the treatment can be more targeted.
