Naturopathic Pain Management

July 22, 2016Jane Hendricks NMDBlog

neck-painAll of us will experience chronic pain at some point in our lives. Whether it be after an acute injury or from a disease process, the affect of chronic pain on our lives is expansive. It limits our activities, thereby impacting our work and relationships. The most common methods of treating chronic pain is chemically through pain pills and anti-inflammatories. These methods are appropriate following a treatment, surgical procedure, or after the initial injury. However, using chemicals long term pain carries the risk of physical and psychological dependence. In addition, many of these medications have physical side effects such as grogginess and digestive disorders, not to mention kidney and liver damage.

If you suffer from chronic pain, it is vital to look into alternative measures for managing your pain or finding a cure for the underlying cause. The great thing about using alternative medicine, is that these therapies not only help reduce pain, they also address the cause and help the body to heal itself. For example, acupuncture treats the nerves that innervate the muscles, so not only does it help relax the muscles but it also treats the cause.

Natural anti-inflammatories exist to replace ibuprophen, and in high doses can be just as effective. These herbal and nutritional remedies help the body’s own anti-inflammatory processes come back into balance.

Electro-slim or TENS helps with muscle spasm by treating the nerves and increasing circulation in the muscles.

Finally, chiropractic manipulation and massage is widely available and well known for their beneficial effects in managing long term pain.

With so many alternatives available, there is no reason to addict one’s body to chemicals that not only have harmful side effects but do not even treat the cure. It is well documented that the benefits of these powerful alternative therapies far outweigh the costs.

Garden Of Health, llc offers many pain management modalities such as Acupuncture, Prolotherapy (regenerative injections), natural anti-inflammatory remedies, and trigger point injections.
